Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde exists in every home to some degree. The concentrations of formaldehyde in the home vary depending on the age of the home and the quantity of pressed wood products. Exposure to it can cause a wide variety of health problems.

The Environmental Defense Scoreboard has ranked formaldehyde as one of the most hazardous compounds to ecosystems and human health. Exposure to formaldehyde will affect people differently, some people having no reaction, while others reactions are severe.

While off gassing of formaldehyde occurs naturally over time, the ThermaPureHeat® process can be used to accelerate the process of off gassing. Our technique for off gassing formaldehyde greatly reduces formaldehyde in any structure.

Asthma

Construction Material Drying
Dry Buildings with Heat™

Today, many new structures are built with green lumber that is still high in moisture content. Problems may occur during construction as a result of inclement weather, high humidity, or other conditions resulting in vapor intrusion and condensation on structural members.

Mold problems may be found in structures that have never leaked because of these types of problems occurring during construction. If high moisture levels are detected, application of the ThermaPureHeat® process after framing and sheathing can reduce moisture levels 6 -8%. If this process is complete prior to construction of vapor barriers and erection of sheet rock walls, mold will not colonize or amplify within the structure.

Additionally, finish shrinkage will not occur to any great extent. ThermaPureHeat® is an excellent preventive measure during the construction process.

VOCs and EDCs

Volatile Organic Compounds and Endocrine Disrupting Compounds are known as affecting chemically sensitive individuals and are suspected carcinogens. There have been numerous recent studies in which the combination of chemicals in an indoor environment has been evaluated as a health hazard.

This "chemical soup" is believed to impact health in a cumulative fashion. Individually, the ingredients of this "soup" may not be significant, but in combination, they may be deadly. Heat does not discriminate and will impact most chemicals in an indoor environment. It is a perfect solution to the combined problem of chemical presence in a structure.
